Visit of a Japanese delegation to Benin

From January 31 to February 4 two delegates from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan visited the Africa Rice Center in Benin. During their mission, Mr. Sato and Mr. Nakasugi, were updated by the project members on the ongoing activities and the progress that has been made. Their mission included a visit to the project research and demonstration sites in Bamé and Ayize.

In Ayize the demonstration fields, being close to harvest, were visited and Dr. Abe explained the different varieties that are cultivated here.

In Bamé an experimental research setup was visited. Petra Schmitter, a water resources specialist, outlined the different treatments in terms of water and fertilizer management.
