Dr. Youssouf Demebele joins SMART-IV project team to lead development activities

AfricaRice is pleased to announce that as per July 1st, Dr. Youssouf Dembélé has joined our center as coordinator of the Inland Valley Consortium (IVC). Within the SMART-IV project, Dembélé will focus his activities on the participatory development of Sawah systems with farmers.

Dembélé, a national from Burkina Faso with a PhD title from Rennes in France, has a strong experience in agriculture and inland valleys through his previous work with the Institut de l’Environnement et de Recherches Agricoles (INERA) in Burkina Faso. In his work Dembélé worked with international research organizations, such as the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and development organizations and NGOs (SNV). For the FAO he lead the technical team of the special program for food security. Moreover, he has been national coordinator of the Inland Valley Consortium for Burkina Faso and the head of the rice program at INERA.
